Transportation to USC

There is reliable public transportation between the downtown Los Angeles hotels and the University of Southern California (USC), which is also located at downtown.

The most convenient mode of public transport is the DASH bus, route F. It runs weekdays and weekends, but not after about 7 pm. It costs 25 cents per ride. The schedule and basic map is available at the City of Los Angeles Department of Transport (LADOT).  All the hotels and the convention bureau should have printed map/schedules
as well.

Moreover, we will have arranged a shuttle bus for transport to the dinner in Chinatown.

 Background

The Working Group on "Urban Transformation in China and Reorganization of the State in an Era of Globalization" was set up under the funding support from the Urban China Research Network of the State University of New York at Albany.
  Dr. Carolyn CARTIER, Department of Geography, University of Southern California; and
  Dr. Si-ming LI, Department of Geography, Hong Kong Baptist University
are the coordinators of the working group.

The three major research themes of the working group are:
(1) To theorize urban restructuring and state reorganization in China through the globalization debates and scale relations;
(2) To empirically analyze how the intersections between domestic economic restructuring and globalizing processes have affected China's urban hierarchy and urban agglomerations, and to what extent this has led to global city-regional formation in the Chinese context;
(3) To examine local conditions of urban transformation brought by economic restructuring and political and cultural globalization.

There are now 17 core members in the working group, namely:

Dr. Carolyn CARTIER, Dr. Gonghao CUI, Dr. George LIN, Dr. Laurence MA, and Mr. Wing-Shing TNAG on Theme 1;
Dr. Simon ZHAO, Dr. Fang CAI, Dr. Jianming CAI, Dr. Weiping WU, and Dr. Li ZHANG  on Theme 2;

Prof. Si-Ming LI, Prof. Christopher SMITH, Dr. Cindy FAN, Dr. Youqin HUANG, Dr. Gina LAI, Dr. Zai LIANG, and Dr. Xiushi YANG on Theme 3.
